[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This replaced a 14 year old plasma TV. I’ve only had the unit for 3 weeks and it is noticeably different from the Plasma. The picture is easily superior, albeit it did take me awhile to tune it to my chosen settings.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently purchased the Crystal U8500 TV, the picture quality is excellent and overall quality is great. Very satisfied with Samsung TV’s as Ive always gravitated to them over past 15 years, they always provide a quality TV and reliable. Even purchased multiple Samsung TV’s for parents home, they are very happy with the TV’s.

This TV has a nice picture and did a great job automatically detecting the connected devices and setting them up to work with HDMI-CEC. I did not appreciate, however, Samsung asserting the necessary use of the SmartThings app to go through the setup process. After that failed, I learned that it was possible, after all, to do the setup directly on the TV with the remote–my preferred approach.
But the Samsung/SmartThings requirements don’t end there. Want to install apps that aren’t already on the TV? You need a Samsung account, and you must be logged into that account on the TV. That’s not new for Samsung, but it’s nonetheless annoying.
Here’s the real problem, though. Unlike past models, this Samsung TV REQUIRES you to be logged into a Samsung account to USE any app–whether it’s they’re free, AD-SUPPORTED streaming TV channels or even a third-party app like Netflix, Hulu, or Peackock. You MUST be logged into a Samsung account to even open and use those apps.
I purchased this TV for a vacation rental property, but this Samsung account requirement makes it unsuitable for that situation. I will not be purchasing any more Samsung TVs for rental properties, and I cannot recommend this TV to anyone.

Screen was busted. Got it all set up turned it on and screen is busted. Now have to wait for Samsung to call me set up appt to “fix” the tv which it is not fixable so will have to wait for them to come here say you need a new TV. Was supposed to get it the next day now three days later one person delivered this huge, heavy TV and it’s busted. Who would have known that not properly carrying a 70 in Samsung Crystal TV would bust the screen!

The only thing I really dislike about this TV is that Youtube app doesn’t work and the are no audio outputs to hook it to an amplifier for a better sound experience.
No RCA, No digital output. The HDMI provided are useles for conecting old school equipment.

The picture is just amazing, and the apps and features are just there! And was was relatively easy to set up! And the solar powered remote is such a clever surprise too! I love this sustainable idea!

I thought that Crystal Class would not match QLED for picture quality, but on this 50″ it does. It was quite a surprise, very impressed and happy with the purchase. Samsung great 👍

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did a lot of research before purchasing this TV. I was considering a QLED/OLED tv because though it would be much higher quality but found this version to be just as good and for a much more reasonable price! It has all the Samsung smart features which makes it easy to navigate between apps and I do like the remote. The remote is very different to the older version but actually works really well.

I have no idea who thought it was a great idea to put 2/3 hdmi ports out the back rather than the side poor design and frustrating for a wall hung tv, other then this cant fault it so far. Do regret not buying the frame instead if I had my time again
