This is my third Ryobi 40v mower and so far my best. I had the initial 20″ push, which a neighbor is still using, and a 21″ self propelled, that I loved, buy had a recall. This RY40HPLM02K2 was the replacement option I received and it is miles ahead in features. Both 6ah batteries can be used together, and has a lot more power through thick bermuda grass. I have a large corner lot with lots of obstacles to maneuver around and have 1/2 of the battery left when I’m done. There’s a control panel that shows the battery gauge along with a “turbo” button to speed up the blades temporarily, and to set the max speed control. I may never need the turbo button however, as, like my previous mower, the engine speeds up when it hits resistance. But this mower is much more instantaneous, reacting quickly to conditions. You can set the max drive speed on the control panel, then use the paddles for variable speed up to the chosen max setting. There is also a means to rotate the paddles to your comfortable position. I noticed some reviews thought this was a third confusing means of adjusting the speed but it is only for rotating the paddle position. This mower may be a bit heavier but handles well. The cut is noticeably more even. I also like that the battery compartment snaps shut and does a better job keeping debris out. Came with two batteries and quick chargers, easy assembly. I received this lawnmower as a recall replacement and hate it. When engaging the self-propel drive it SLAMS into gear and jerks hard. Occasionally when releasing the self-propel drive it takes up to 3 seconds to stop, this seems like a very bad thing to happen. Also, the batter level indicator always displays 1 bar even with 2 fully charged 6amp batteries. One last thing, the thumb level to enable the self-propel is very flimsy and seems sure to break. I really liked the original 40v lawn mower, I wish I still had it.
