First of all the printer does have 6 monts on the box free HP ink & if you call hp to finish the setup part to connect to the internet, the agent will give the full 6 months on your hp account. If you do the entire set up as prompted, it wants you to choose from 1 or 2 types of print quantity and at higher price, I get 50prints a month for $4.99+ tax & this is my 10th year, cheaper than buying cartridges, also the cartridges that come with the machine are small and partially filled to get you maybe 30+ copies, just enough until you get your XL cartridges for hp ink in the mail.
NOW…ABOUT THE PRINTER: This HP 7958e inkjet printer has met all of my expectations, but then I always buy HP and usually at Cost —co. The main reason I buy HP is excellent quality photo prints that look like what’s on my computer’s screen before printing them out. The 7958e makes amazing photo quality prints with only 2 cartridges, one tri-color ink cartridge and a black ink cartridge. I also use the “best” setting for my photos and black & white printing. This printer is does fast prints too, I pressed “copy” on the LCD panel, and the first sheet was still being scanned as the printing already started to go!. Wow! And when using the document feeder, the printer didn’t wait for the entire sheet to be thru feeding thru the document feeder and scanning
before starting to print.

Not at all Happy with this printer. I should have returned it but thought I would be able to figure out how to work with it’s difficult and frustrating shortcomings until it was too late to return. It has a second paper tray for printing photos and it constantly got in the way of printing a normal page. I finally learned out on You tube how to remove it, now the printer will not work and I get the message that Photo tray is jammed. (while it is sitting elsewhere on a shelf) ????

Bought this so I could make a photo album for my wife for Christmas. Downloaded over 20k worth of pictures and videos. Stored them all on my hard drive. Sorted all the pictures into categories. Took a few weeks to do. Went back and started picking the ones I wanted to print for her.
About 400 pictures in- and (6) 64XL Color Cartridges and 1(HP Color Instant Ink) cartridge (only used 1 HP Instant Ink Black cartridge) My printer received an error code. I contact HP tech support via chat. Took over 20 minutes in a chat to actually get to the problem. I even logged into my HP account from the start so they would have all my information. Still needed to provide it in the chat. After 1 hour the tech support person had me running the same steps over and over to no avail. Then wanted to remote log into my computer- Uhhh no thanks. I said a few things in the chat I am not proud of. BUT I vowed to never again buy HP printers or products. I seem to have problems with HP printers around the 400-500 page mark. This was my 4th HP printer in 8 years. I have just been too stubborn to switch.
BUT hey- if you like wasting money, and going through ink like water, then this is the printer for you. I was so desperate to get ink, that I was running into Office Depot(shiver) to buy ink. Thanks goodness they price matched Amazon, and saved me a few bucks. Ink is not cheap.
I think the ink used for this printer is hand crafted by Elves in the Brazilian rain forest only on full moons. It has to be based on the prices they charge for it. So 6 regular XL ink cartridges, and 1 instant ink cartridge for 400 pages. That equals about 57 pages per cartridge and the cartridges are about $55 a piece, so a little more than $1.00 per page to print a photo. I could go to a printing company and not actually have to do all the work. Just pop my stuff on a flash drive, take it in and say, print this. It would be the same cost. That’s not even taking into account the cost of the paper. That is about $0.50 a sheet. So $1.50 per photo.
Print quality was ok on it. I did use HP Premium photo paper Glossy 60lb weight. I printed 8x10s, 5×7’s and 4×6’s. At first the 4×6’s in the main paper tray were printing out crooked and the photos were not lined up right. I switched to photo tray and same problem. I wasted about 10 4×6 pictures trying to get it right. Eventually I had to use the main photo tray to get the 4×6 to work. The 8×10 and 5×7 were no problem. Just sucked through ink.
So HP I say farewell, its not me, it’s you. Its been 20 years of disappointment and frustration, but this time I mean it, we are done. Don’t try to come back to me later saying you’re good, and you worked on yourself and we can make it work again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me 20x+ for 20+ years, shame on me.

I was very impressed by this all in one. It does everything a person would need to do as far a printing goes. Even does, and come with photos/photo paper. Made some nice pics. Only downer part was it was a bit confusing to set up initially , and it only uses hp ink, so can’t buy knock off ink for half the price when your cartridge runs out. Other than that, great printer.

I have had plenty of Hp printers, but this is by far the best one. It does everything. I absolutely love the document feeder and automatic double sided printing. It is so quiet and fast. App connectivity is amazing and I have far less wifi issues as well.

Except one problem that I noticed with it this morning when looking around again, I noticed that Costco has the same printer for $150 less that really bothers me. I’m just wondering if I should return this one and go buy one from Costco help me out please.

I bought this all in one printer (printer, copier, and scanner) on sale for a great price! It’s worked really well for me. It prints and copies relatively fast and scans at an ok speed (though I wouldn’t call it fast). It came with 6 months of free ink subscription, but since I’d bought some ink at the store, I’ve only received one month’s worth of ink from Epson. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this printer again. It meets my needs perfectly. I got it at an excellent price point, so it definitely has given me good value for my money!
