Pros: Delivered in two days with standard UPS (CA to NY), looks like a futuristic robotic arm, full metal construction [aluminum and steel], premium commercial grade quality, cabling system enough to house 4 cables, offers choice of underside torque clamp or drilling through desk to secure, can accommodate up to a 30lb display, 180 degrees of movement at the pivot point, 360 horizontal movement at secondary pivot, 180 degrees left; 180 degrees right in the vertical plain for portrait view, included all screws Cons: The two instructional sheets should have stated and depicted the VESA mounting is arced up by default. In the images (the instructions are entirely diagrams) the VESA mount is at the standard 90 degrees which it wasn’t as the spring system by default arced up. This perplexed me to the point that I spent about an hour trying to center the VESA mount (it takes quite a bit of force to move it down, as the spring system is under a good amount of tension). I finally had an epiphany; the weight of the LCD may suffice to center the VESA mount. That did the trick. Overall Review: This is a very high quality LCD arm. It doesn’t say that it’s commercial grade but after you had a chance to use it, you just know this thing was meant for a demanding work environment. I didn’t need it for the workplace though, I just needed an LCD arm to get rid of the clutter on my desk so I could place my 5.1 speakers. I figured that since this LCD arm could hoist a maximum of 30lbs, it must be of exceptional quality and assures me that it won’t go to waste if I upgrade my 22″ to something larger in the future. Be mindful that if you get this mount make sure it weighs 14lbs to center the VESA pivot as it’s on a tensioned spring which arcs the VESA mount about 45 degrees. I was fortunate that my 12.7lb LCD centered the VESA pivot with the tension screw at the lowest point. You can have it at the 45 degree angle if you want by adjusting the VESA mount tension spring. One more thing adjust the spinal tension (check manual) so the arm can be lowered without reverting to maximum height.

Pros: built like a brick s&^t house. No worries about losing a monitor while attached to this mount. great flexibility, range of motion, and sleek design. fits the bill Cons: high price but worth every penny and it feels like it too. Overall Review: chose this over the mount with the long pole in the back, no regrets. used this with my 28″ hanns-g no problem.

Pros: Very easy install with multiple mounting monitor and desk mounting options. I was able to do it solo, but I am a bigger guy with long arms. I only had to make one trip to Lowes. :o)
Arm rotates into many positions, so multiple people can use the computer. My wife is 5′ & I am 6’2″, so where we like the monitor is much different, so this solved that problem.
It clears up a ton of desk space. I am able to have a full size text book or accounting ledger in front of me.
I am very pleased with this product and how easy the install and setup was. Cons: The zip ties that come with the monitor arm are low quality. I had some extra ones, so it wasnt a big deal. If you have a stiff HDMI then this could be a real issue.
I am using a HDMI that was custom made by a buddy that does home theater, so it is braided and stiffer than others. Overall Review: If you are looking for a montior arm for a bigger screen than this is the one to go with. It is a great price, easy install, and solid construction.
I will update my review if anything changes! Newegg had it to my door in 2 days!

Pros: Very solid arm. Great action in all the joints. Holds my 26″ Planar solidly, better than the LX arm I used to use. Simple assembly (don’t let the parts count scare you– a lot of them aren’t used). Ergotron clearly makes the best mass-market monitor mounts. Cons: The lower arm does NOT rotate 360 degrees on the base plate. It only does 180* side-to-side. This is a major flaw in my opinion because it severely limits the mounting options. Hard to explain, but this mounting solution will limit how far back you can place your screen on your desk. With the LX arms you could swivel the whole arm assembly behind your desk and your screen could be almost at the edge of the desk. This is impossible with the MX.
The 100 to 200mm VESA adapter “solution” is ridiculous. You have to slide 4 washers between the mount plate and the monitor while trying to insert screws through the whole assembly (into the monitor holes which you can’t actually see) while trying to balance the screen on top of the arm. Hello Ergotron — The washers should be _builti into_ the bloody adapter plate! Overall Review: I was very disappointed about the limited swivel travel at the base plate. I don’t see any engineering reason for this design decision. My screens are now 6″ closer to me than I’d like them to be.

Pros: It seems to work well. Cons: none Overall Review: The weight range is 15-30 pounds. If the monitor is too light (even close to 15 pounds) the monitor will tip up – the spring is too strong.
I was upset about the 180 degree roation about the base. I took the base apart and filed off the projection. Now mine rotate 360 degrees.

Pros: For the longest time I wanted a Vesa arm, but before this one came along there were no desk mounts that could handle heavier/larger screens. You either had to wall-mount them or convert other hardware in a haphazard way.
This one purchase is one of my most beloved investment for my computer workstation. I use a large drafting table and this allows me to place all sorts of items, including the keyboard under my main screen. It cleans up the work area so much and in such a convenient way that I would be absolutely frustrated if I had to go back to not using an arm.
The build quality is amazing and I have had absolutely zero issues over the last 4+ years of using the arm. It also includes very nice cable management and the movement of the screen is fluid once you calibrate the tension spring to your screen’s weight.
You definitely get what you pay for and I can’t imagine them improving on the product. Out of the gate it leave little to nothing to be desired.
If you were ever on the fence as to if the investment would be worth it, buy now. The greatest thing about this stand as far as cost goes, is that you can use it for much longer than the rest of your computer hardware will survive. It’s like a really high quality case investment (Lian Li PC-A71 😉 You may go through multiple generations of screens, motherboards, and other electronic hardware, but you will be hard pressed to need to replace this.
From a business standpoint, it will DEFINITELY improve productivity if the particular task involves being at your desk a lot. Especially useful for sound engineers, CAD/Modelers/shaders… and any profession where you “do stuff” at your desk and are shuffling things around looking for more deskspace/room.
I regularly will slide “everything” under the stand to the back of the drafting table to clear enough room to work on whatever I need to while in front of my computer screen. This could be a soldering station, doing sketches, putting together mechanical parts… anything. Also great for even college work when you need to reference text books or other materials. Cons: There are a few cons but none of them are really directly tied to the product, but instead to the nature of Vesa arms in general.
The biggest issue I had was installing the arm and positioning it/tightening it. The problem was because I did it solo and in a cramped working area. I strongly recommend pulling out the desk and following the instructions but with at least a second person there to help you. It will save you an amazing amount of sore muscles, headache, and frustration.
A second *sort of* con is that most stock cables for power, screens, and USB connections do not take Vesa arms into account. Depending on your setup, desk size, and computer placement, you may need to invest into longer cables to account for placement of the base of the stand on a desk. For example:
If I wanted to position the base of the stand on the far left of my desk away from my tower I would have to get cables that are double the length of stock cables as they have to first travel to the base of where the Vesa arm is mounted, then up the arm in its internal cable management section. You could very well just leave the cables loose but it would be amazingly unsightly. *at least double the length* of stock cables.
The arm itself accounting for cable connection to the screen eats up about 27″-30″ of cable. Add on to this the distance between your computer and where you want the “base” of the Vesa stand to be, and that’s the length of cable you should use. This should be measured “as the cable is routed” an extra couple of inches over is better than a couple of inches under.
    Last con
At the time I couldn’t get it from NewEgg 😉 I am glad to see they are now selling it (I was searching to get a second). Overall Review: I purchased this, what must be now 3 years ago now and have it matched to an Alvin Workmaster Drafting Table (4’x6′) holding an older Double Sight DS- 263N. The monitor is listed as 23 pounds, unsure if that is with or without the stand. IIRC it is specced to hold “Apple” 30″ type displays. Remember to account for the base being removed when determining the weight.
At it’s maximum vertical high position the bottom of the 263N has about 4.5″ of clearance. I usually have the height closer to 2-3″ of clearance during normal use. This could be increased easily if a block of some sort were used at the base as there is a large amount of room for the foot to incorporate thicker desks… Up to, if needed, about 3″ thick
Comes with all the hardware you need to mount, no need to purchase any tools Mounting at both ends (screen and foot) are highly customizable and I would be amazed if there were a workspace or screen out there that this wasn’t compatible with.
I made up a custom pair of aluminum foot plates to protect my drafting table but that isn’t really required for normal mounting/use.
In theory I could still have it mounted while my drafting table were in a tilted position since at the screen join there is tilt and swivel junction.

Pros: I really like this monitor stand. It is very high quality. I currently have two of these stands supporting a 27″ 1440p panel each.
I like the flexible mounting options and all the adjustments you can make.
If you’re running 3 monitors in surround you could pick up three of these vs. the large 3 monitor stand on desk type.
It is a well though out product. There is a loom to route your cables, so everything looks really neat and tidy.
Highly recommended product. Cons: None so far.

Pros: Owned since 2009…Very well made… Tension can be adjusted with Allen Wrench…
*Monitors less then 10 Lbs… (Adjusting the Tilt tensions)…see Other thoughts Cons: None. Overall Review: For Monitors less then 10 Lbs…
Look at the springs just behind the plate that attaches to your monitor…
The springs can be disabled (or sprung)..
Take a screw driver and pry the end of the spring wire (black in color) from the the metal tabs on each side..(Note: You can disable 1 or both springs depending on the weight of your monitor.. I disabled both)
This with take all the tension off the tilt adjustment and works great with my 19 and 24 Led monitors both weigh 8 Lbs. or less… And there is still enough tension to adjust the tilt with no issues… Now use an allen wrench to adjust the tension on the top arm ( allen screw id located inside the top of the arm)… Hope the Helps!!!!!!
