It works well but it is longer to pop up the video, even the wifi is closer. It take a lot of time to see life canera. Interface and connectivity should be improved.

Prior to buying a set of Blink cameras (video doorbell, the Mini and Outdoor 4s) in January 2025, I already had a Ring doorbell camera for just over 5 years. I can safely say that the Blink hardware and system is very inferior to Ring. The reason why switched to Blink was to try something new/different and because the hardware was more affordable (bought on sale). I don’t want to write about what makes Blink good, as this has been done by the company already with their advertising. Let’s talk about their deficiencies that i experienced… the snap-on method to attach the wireless cameras to the mounts is very poor and cheap, instead of a mechanical solution like a single short Allen screw or something. As such, one of the cameras is slightly loose when snapped into place using the little extender that’s snapped to the mount. The Outdoor 4 should have been designed and sold with a short hood overtop it to protect the lense – specifically the ensuing image and recording quality – from rain or snow. The Motion Zone uses a grid to select areas that you do/do not want motion alerts to trigger but it can’t be fine tuned using straight lines compared to Ring. Also, objects/movement that are WELL OUTSIDE the set zones repeatedly trigger unwanted motion alerts which is extremely annoying, especially considering when Person Detection (whatever it’s called) is selected. One of the Outdoor 4 units (one of five cameras set up at my home) had its batteries drained in LESS THAN A MONTH’S TIME when they supposedly last to a max of two years – not a chance. I called Blink tech support (located in a Third World country overseas whose first language isn’t English) and they advised that the problem appeared to be with the 2.4 GHz bandwidth of my router/wireless modem and to call my internet provider to troubleshoot/investigate. This doesn’t seem to make sense, as all the wireless cameras in my system should have exhibited this same issue. I’m currently in the process of escalating with Blink tech support.
You get what you pay for. In the end, it’s a cheaper system and product but still pretty good.

Update: In all seriousness, avoid these cameras. They’re terrible and Amazon deliberately hinders their performance to incentivize buying a subscription. The sync module is crap, the Blink app is awful and laggy. Just get a property security system. This system is the worst experience I’ve had with technology.

Avoid these cameras. The battery life is absolutely atrocious, lasting less than two months with brand new Energizer lithium batteries – a 4 pack at walmart costs $13-15.99+. I have two cameras and a doorbell camera and since December, I have gone through the batteries that came with the camera and 8 brand new batteries. I have the clip length set to 10-15s, “nightvision” off, quality set to standard. Blink technical support’s suggestion was to shorten the clip length to 5s (not much use in catching an event), change the sensitivity settings so that it won’t record, leave the system disarmed until such time that you know you’ll need to have the camera record, ensure that it has a solid connection to wifi (keeping in mind that these are meant to be outdoor cameras, so wifi range will be an issue). On top of this, the connection to the sync module is a joke, often timing out when trying to view a live feed, or taking far too long to see the video. These problems weren’t there with the free trial of the subscription, but at that point, I might as well get a proper security camera/system and not this crap.

In summary, Blink/Amazon’s false claim of “2 year battery life” only applies if you basically don’t use the camera for its intended purpose – to record unexpected events occurring around your property.

These cameras are garbage and a huge waste of money (the camera + buying batteries every month or two).

    Mr H

We have had multiple Blink cameras around our large property set to automatically turn on & off for overnight security that work great.
So far in the last few years I’ve only had to change one of the doorbell cameras batteries since installing.
