Pros: Wasn’t sure what to expect from this. My last processor was AMD (bought in 2018) and it worked fine- just had to upgrade so my system could use windows 11. I do a lot of video editing and was just hoping for a little improvement in speed with this one- turned out it completes most things I do with video about 4 times faster than my old one. Overall Review: Recommended- great processor for the price.

Pros: Worked in a MSI Pro B650-S Wifi board right out of the box.
Zero issues installing drivers. Everything. Just. Worked. Cons: Being an APU it’s not top tier in either CPU or GPU performance. You won’t win any benchmark awards. Overall Review: This is for a customer build that is focused on productivity work (2D/3D Autocad, office apps), but also uses it as a family computer. It certainly didn’t need top of the line specs, and I found the Ryzen APUs to be a good compromise between CPU/GPU performance without all the extra money spent on a discreet GPU.
For reference, I built a 13600K machine for myself at work using the iGPU and it falls flat on its face doing anything remotely graphically intensive. My work laptop for comparison is a Ryzen 7 6850U APU and it handles the apps (CNC/modeling software) I use just fine.
If you’re not a hardcore gamer and want to check both CPU/GPU boxes in one purchase, this is the way to go. Then rest assured you can do some gaming if you want, at lower settings (1080P for most games), and your 2D/3D productivity apps won’t choke either.
FWIW as far as benchmarks are concerned, using CPU-Z this compares similarly to the Ryzen 5 5800X I have in my home desktop computer. Single core is slightly faster on the 6800G, but multi-core favors the 5800X slightly. In a 65W package, I think AMD has done good with this chip, sadly most people pass it over because most care about gaming and benchmarks.

Pros: Reasonably fast, impressed with the iGPU. Even more impressed with the low temps! Linux kernels above 6.11 are highly optimized for the APU, everything works and is snappy! Overall Review: Highly recommended for lighter builds. I use mine for a tiny video editing station, and will add an Oculink eGPU soon, and report back on the value in doing so. But, for me, at present, this is exactly the performance balance I needed, and it was cost effective.

Pros: 8 cores clocked at 4.2GHz Cons: GPU is not really meant for more than regular HD 1080p. Higher resolutions show poor performance. Overall Review: This is overall a pretty good CPU with integrated graphics. Like the claims state it’s their most powerful iGPU to date. It can play titles such as Cyberpunk and Fallout and many others. Just don’t expect high framer ates at high settings. You’ll have to lower the settings a bit and definitely don’t try to play at 4K because it’ll not even really be playable. But this chip never promised that much. It does what it was advertised to do. It delivers decent entry-level graphics performance on a budget with a strong 8-core CPU behind it. So really for the money, it’s a bargain. It’s cheap enough that if you are piecing together a budget system that you want to play some games on but don’t have enough to drop on a dedicated GPU (or perhaps don’t have the space) then this will work fine. And at 65W TDP it’s efficient too. I think as long as you keep your expectations in line with what this is really made to do then you’ll be satisfied with it.

Pros: item arrived in a timely fashion, new as advertised, installed easily without issues. running a perf’ test shows CPU at full clock and spec, no problems. kit had all needed hardware for installation. Cons: none. i did replace the stock cooler for a larger one, that’s not to say the included fan couldn’t handle the load. it’s just that in the past i’ve seen the stock fans are built more to the ‘minimum’ side. Overall Review: while i’m happy with how this combo is running [Yeston Radeon RX7700XT GPU ; MSI PRO B650-S ATX Moboard]. my buddy pointed out a different CPU with some better specs at close to the same price point. but you can also say that for everything in the computer world. my machine is up, running fast, has Win 11 and is ready for all the CAD-CAM my little heart desires.

Pros: It has been up and running in 24/7 service without an issue for a couple of weeks. Its a good functioning system. Has onboard video, so I don’t need a separate video card. Good performance so far. Cons: Don’t know how much the CPU contributed to the issue, but CPU / Motherboard combo would not boot with an MBR partitioned boot drive. Legacy / CSM mode would not POST at all. Took a lot of work to discover that a GPT partition was required to boot my Windows 10 hard drive. Overall Review: I built the combination of the AMD Ryzen 5 8500G and the GIGABYTE B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI AM5 LGA 1718 AMD B650 M-ATX. The motherboard came with the Team Group 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Memory Model FF7D516G6000HC38ADC01.
It has been up and running in 24/7 service without an issue for a couple of weeks. Its a good functioning system. Has onboard video , so I don’t need a separate video card.
This was an upgrade, re-using an older Antec case and 500 watt power supply along with a Western Digital Black 1 TB SATA hard drive.
The build went fine, but I encountered trouble trying to boot up the first time. To cut to the bottom line, the SATA hard drive was still partitioned in MBR and I was just moving it over from the previous motherboard. This combination WILL NOT BOOT an MBR drive, it must be GPT. In the past, I could enable CSM (or legacy BIOS support) and boot into an MBR drive. When I did that, the motherboard would not even POST, only a black screen. It didnt like CSM mode at all.
I have recently built two other similar Gigabyte B650 full ATX Aorus boards with Ryzen 7000 (R7 and R9) and have moved my MBR drives over and had no issue booting in CSM / legacy mode. I later converted to GPT, but was able to start in MBR. Something must have changed, dont know if it is the motherboard or the new 8000 series AMD CPU.
In order to get this system to boot, I needed to convert the drive to GPT. I used the free version of Paragon Partition Magic to make the conversion while attached to a free SATA port of another computer running Windows 10. I might have been able to convert it on my old motherboard, but lost that chance.
